Dominic Harman, Charles Church’s Group Communications Director, comments:

“The new Consumer Code is welcomed and has been developed over many months of consultation with industry stakeholders. It can only be seen as a positive step to further ensure homebuyers get the very best service that they should expect from a responsible and reliable house builder like Charles Church.”

Dominic continues: “We welcome the new Consumer Code for home builders which we fully complied with in our original customer charter. The Charles Church Commitment sets out our promise to those who purchase our new homes and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to ensure that our staff are trained so that our customers get our full attention to detail, support and a consistent approach to making their moving experience enjoyable.”

The above quotes are taken from Charles Church website.

We hear so many upsetting stories about Charles Church. Some hoped the new consumer code would improve the situation, especially quality of new homes, number of faults and time to rectify defects.

Alas, judging by the above comments from Charles Church Group Communications Director, it appears to me that nothing will change going forward.

Very very disappointing.

It seems (at least on our new development) that the Persimmon Homes and Charles Church customers are in the same boat. Different companies, but same short sighted approach to customer service. Shocking how appallingly bad it already was, and still is . . . yet Dominic seems to suggest it’s going to stay the same (at least for Charles Church) with the introduction of the new consumer code, which Dominic wants us to think Charles Church already complied with.

Unfortunately new homes HAVE to come under the sale of goods act as soon as possilbe. The UK government needs to step in urgently and address these issues which have gone on far too long.
